FAQs

Who are we?

The Beekeepers is managed by Daithí O’Dronaí and Norma Howard, both of whom work in music and film, respectively. Curating an exclusive, accessible haven for creative individuals has become a passion project all of its own.

Where are we?

The house is located in a private woodland area next to the Aillwee Cave at the foot of the Burren mountains.

What features and facilities are in the surrounding area?

Refreshing swimming spots and gorgeous beaches are just a five-minute drive away, while a short stroll will lead you to the famous Aillwee Cave, home to both the Birds of Prey Centre and the Farmshop, a hidden gem that houses the delicious, award-winning Burren Gold Cheese.

The nearby village of Ballyvaughan, meanwhile, boasts a variety of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, not to mention a host of outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. We particularly recommend the farmer’s market that takes place every Saturday.

What’s the inside of the house like?

The Beekeepers can sleep up to six different people at a time. We offer everything that a traditional holiday rental provides in addition to a basic music recording facility, a film and media room, a large, spacious garden and broadband internet that can be easily disconnected.

While not a classic studio space or writer’s retreat, The Beekeepers is a consciously intimate and tranquil setting, one where an artist is invited to flourish. If working on a project, you are welcome to bring your own equipment and set up as you please. Artists may also avail of a discount rental rate in order to ensure that the entire process is an affordable one.

If I’m not an artist or looking to work on a project, can I still stay at The Beekeepers?

Absolutely! We’d love to have you.
